TUTORIAL: Hanging Heart

This tutorial is to make a very sweet hanging heart. Perfect to decorate your little one's door (or dresser, closet, hook) for Valentine's Day or any day of the year!
It's a GREAT way to use up all those fabric scraps too! I have hanging hearts in my etsy shop but without the felt and button detail. To begin, pick a fabric and trace a heart shape onto the back. My heart is around 5" x 5". Cut out two hearts.

I added two small felt hearts as detail. I also think an initial or a small pocket for a chocolate treat or sweet note would be cute. I zigzagged the hearts onto the front heart.

I also decided to sew on a button for more detail. Pick a coordinating ribbon (mine is 8" long) and pin on the front heart, pointing to the center. You will sandwich the ribbon when you lay the back heart piece onto, right sides of heart touching.

I straight stitched around the heart, leaving an opening for turning on the side.

Turn right side out and stuff with fiberfill (stuff very full). Then hand stitch using a ladder stitch or blind stitch (I think this is the name, just learned it this week from a blog, but can't remember the source-SORRY!)

You're done! Enjoy......
