Woman's skirt to girl's sundress

So I got this, can I say ugly, woman's plaid skirt from the thrift store. It was $2 for a brown paper bag full of clothes, so this came out to only a few cents. I knew I would make it into a cute sundress for my daughter.

I made it from a tutorial on Lil Blue Boo. It's for a border fabric sundress, but I adapted it to the existing skirt. I used the existing hem so it was easy. I love how it turned out and will be making tons more. I loaded up on fun fabric from the thrift store so I can recycle them into cute summer dresses. It's a GREAT was to recycle and re purpose-my favorite thing to do! I get a thrill out of it.....and I must admit, I LOVE my girl in plaids. Just don't see it enough anymore.
I thought the dress needed something else so I made a cute flower out of a long strip of fabric, ruffled it up and sewed a button on. The ends will fray and make it look worn and organic, which I love. Safety pin on back so I won't wash it.
