Lil Blue Boo Hand Painted Leather Headband

For those of you that don't know about Lil Blue Boo, you must go visit the amazing blog. Ashley comes up with such creative projects over and over again. Her latest one is a beautiful hand painted leather headband for her daughter. I have tons of leather scraps so these are definitely on my To Do list.
To see her step by step tutorial, go here.

Melted Satin Flower Headband

Do you want to make one of these satin flower headbands? They're so easy! Follow my directions on making the flower in my tutorial here. Then find an old (or new) headband. Cut a circle of matching felt, put glue on it and attach flower to front. Press on (I like to use clothespins to apply pressure). Dry and there you have it! You can make them in every color! So easy...-ellen

Chelsea Knot Dress Shoot

I had a very fun 10 minute photo shoot with my girl this week. She was sleeping in the car minutes before we did this. I think she's a professional model now. haha. She was great. Wanted to get photos of my Chelsea knot dress that's for sale in my etsy shop here.
I made the flower headband too. Very easy.
There was lots of twirling in this dress.

My favorite photo of the day.

Boho Bags

I made three more bags like the one I made before. But this time I made the straps from fabric and made them wider. More comfortable and stylish I think. Also put pockets in again. NEED pockets.
Velvet gray top band.
This one was everyone's favorite. I adore batik. I used this fabric to make the first knot dress for my daughter.

These bags are for sale in PA.

Bye Bye PA.....

Happy Valentine's Day! I'm spending the day flying from PA back home to CO with my kids alone. OH JOY!!!!! Wish me luck! We've had the best 11 days here, and have done so much with family.
We will miss you Nana! Thank you for EVERYTHING. The kids and I love you!!!!
Visited the Eastern Sportsman's Show for the first time. Can you say crowded???? My husband was working there so we had to visit and say hi. Lots of animals to look at, like the crocodile.
And Mimi, we love you!
And a trip back to PA isn't complete without a visit to Hershey Chocolate World. In the summer it's a Hershey Park day, full of amusement park rides. But in the winter it's Chocolate World, a free ride (twice) to see how they make chocolate and to see the singing cows (a kid favorite).
Hershey's chocolate ice cream with sprinkles and a cherry.
And a chocolate milkshake with lots of cherries to complete the fun morning.
How funny is this picture. When my daughter is working hard she hangs her tongue out like this and says, hard work! There is a GREAT state museum here with a very fun children's area. This is my daughter farming.
More farming.
In a vintage truck with a velcro apple from the apple tree. I wish our new children's museum would look like this, but alas it won't.
A fun trip to the National Aquarium in Baltimore, MD. Haven't been there in YEARS. Cold and windy but fun. Will definitely be coming back this summer for paddle boats and touring the submarine and going to Port Discovery (children's museum).
Lunch at Cheesecake Factory in Inner Harbor with cousins.
Valentine's Day celebration today!
Bye my beautiful neices and nephews. We ADORE you and will be back this summer. Thanks for the memories.

PA Fabric Outlet

I'm in PA, where I grew up, visiting my family with my family. It's been so much fun so far. And today I went to a great place, the PA Fabric Outlet in Lemoyne, PA. We have nothing like this anywhere from where I live in CO. Fabric isn't really my style but so many trims. I bought a bunch of great ribbon trim for dresses for my daughter. I mean, look at this wall.
And this is the other side of the wall. I finally got some colored elastic to make headbands. So much beautiful stuff!
And I didn't shop alone, but with my mom.
And my grandmother, Mimi. Mimi is an amazing sewer and now rug hooker. But she made my sister and I dresses growing up and really has always been sewing. I think I get my creativity and love of sewing and creating from her. Having so much fun......

Stuff I'm loving this week

Pom Pom Flower Headband Tutorial. Ashley from Little Miss Momma made this as part of Headband Week. This is one of my new favorite blogs. My daughter is going to have a bunch of these headbands. So sweet. There's a ton more headband tutorials at Little Miss Momma. Lots of creativity over there.
GORGEOUS jewelry organizer. Made from a wooden tray and wooden thread spools. Wanna make one? Here.Cookies and Cream Cupcakes. Do I need to say more. Here. Here's some homemade brownies on Just Another Day in Paradise.

Stuff I'm loving this week

My kids just had their birthdays and I don't have any great traditions and am such a huge slacker on baby books and writing down info for them. So when I found this post from The Larson Lingo on interviewing your child every year I LOVED IT! I will be doing this every year to remember they're wonderful personalities each year.
Here are some Tattered Muslin Rosettes. I would like to make these in fun, bright colored fabric for a headband for my daughter.
This pretty heart is made from crepe paper! So affordable to make. I really love this can make one at At Second Street here.
When I was looking for tutorials for drawstring bags I found this BEAUTIFUL Origami Lotus Bag.
I will be making this as soon as I find the perfect fabric. So unique and fun!

Drawstring Bags for Boys

Do you have toys everywhere? I have lots of little trains, Barbie shoes, matchbox cars, and plastic cupcakes all over the house. These drawstring bags have been on my TO DO List for a long time but just wasn't getting done....until I had enough of the mess. I made these three ones for my son. I used this tutorial that used French seams. Really like it. No lining so these were very fast to make.
Firetrucks, Hockey, and Baseballs, oh my!
Used ribbon for two of them and a white rope trim I got at Hobby Lobby for one. They look so much better than all the toys everywhere in ripped plastic bags. Next up are some for my daughter.
