Summer Fun

Ready for pool time at our hotel in Grand Junction, our soon to be hometown.

My daughter after nap: "Look mom, me and catepiller both have hats on!"

This is our summer. Fun times!

Bandana Skirt Sets Now in Downtown Sprout

You might have thought I haven't been busy. But I have!!!! Besides trying to keep this house clean for showings with two toddlers and entertaining the kids all day so they don't kill each other, I managed to make 15 bandana skirt sets to put into the children's store, Sprout, in downtown Durango. I still have six sets for sale in my etsy shop. But for Sprout, I made red.

Lime green.

And aqua. I made some short sleeves and some long sleeves. I decided to keep the horse head set on the left for my daughter. Just looks too cute with her blue eyes and flower hair clip.

See????? Too cute. My girl, doing the modeling pose of crossing your legs. Isn't that how all the stars pose on the red carpet? Made me laugh.

Long sleeved cowboy boot. So adorable for fall!

Strawberry Crepes

This is my FAVORITE breakfast I like to make when strawberries are in season.

I like to top them with a little powdered sugar. And of course whipped cream if we have it, and hopefully we do. My kids liked to have powdered sugar AND syrup. YUMMMMMMY!

Want to make your own? The crepe recipe I love is from the book 500 Treasured Country Recipes by Martha Storey and Friends.

1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour

4 eggs

4 T butter, melted

1/2 t salt

1 3/4 milk (I use skim)

1 t butter

1.Combine the flour, eggs, melted butter, salt and milk in a blender and process until smooth. (the book says to chill for 30 min, but I never do....)

2. Heat a small nonstick skillet or omelette pan. Melt some of the butter in the pan, spread to cover.

3. Pour a little less than 1/4 cup of batter into the pan and quickly tip the pan, moving it in a circular fashion to evenly spread the batter over the bottom and sides. Cook over medium heat for about 2 min. Flip the crepe, continue cooking for 30 sec. Remove from pan and fill with cut up strawberries (top with powdered sugar, syrup, or whipped cream. Or all of them!). ENJOY!!!!!! Kids love these and they are really quick and easy to make. Fill with any seasonal fruit.

Stuff I'm loving this week

S'mores cookies from The Girl Who Ate Everything. Need I say more?
This is so smart! Make a 5 minute tunic from a long scarf. Grosgrain explains it in just a few words!

Make it and Love it made these fun headbands. I've never tried a 5 strand braid, but she explains it really well with lots of photos. I think my daughter would love these comfy headbands.

Stuff I'm loving this week

Here's a great studio with lots of eye candy and ideas. I LOVE using rain gutters for holding ribbon. GENIUS!

I adore BLUES. All shades. So this pin tuck wave pillow is perfect. Show Tell Share has a tutorial for making this pillow. You could do any color combination, but as I said, I'm smitten with BLUES like the ocean.

This is a really clever idea to make interchangeable ruffle headbands. Now you just need ONE headband and can add tons of different fabric ruffles. The tutorial is on The Big Green Blog.

I wish I could just eat this picture. Is there anything in this world that I love as much as chocolate????? These are black bottom brownies (with lots of cream cheese!) from beurrista.

Stuff I'm loving this week

I'm going to have a lot of these posts this week. Finally putting up links to projects I love from other blogs. I've bookmarked all of these and finally will share them with all of you! I'm not being a slacker, but am working on a lot of bandana skirt sets for the store in Durango. Taking lots of time, while also cleaning cleaning cleaning for showings! Life is busy these days!
YUMMY!!! Curried Cranberry Chicken with Couscous (or C4 as Tales of a Trophy Wife likes to call it). So nice for a summer meal.

Gorgeous photos of a magical Fairy Party at How Does She?. This is perfect for my daughter's 4th or 5th!

Two tutorials for these fabric headbands. Craft Buds shares them with us here.

Ashley, at Lil Blue Boo, has a very easy tutorial for this cute top for summer. My daughter would love it!!!!!!!

Stuff I'm loving this week

Here's something for us women! Etcetorize made this BEAUTIFUL summery tunic from a simplicity pattern. I think this would be the best dress to wear this summer/fall.

Ashley, at Lil Blue Boo, has done it again. Another great tutorial for a roll-up diaper changing pad (just like the Patemm Pad). Now that she has a team of women working with her, she's coming up with lots of fun new patterns and tutorials. My favorite blog!!!!!

I heart nap time linked up a bunch of sewing rooms. This one is my favorite, Heather Bailey's sewing room. What a DREAM!!!!

Look at this cute apron top! Everyday Chaos gives a great tutorial for this adorable top. Must make.

Hope you had a great 4th! We went to a friend's house and had the best time. Kids got their faces painted!

I made these strawberries after I found them somewhere on the internet.... Dip strawberries in melted white chocolate and roll bottom in blue sugar. So cute!

Our friend had a HUGE ice cream bar set up with a million toppings. Kids definitely liked this!
