Wave Ruffle Dress from DMK

Here's the other dress I made for my daughter. It's the Wave Ruffle Dress by Dear my kids (DMK) and pattern can be found on etsy. I have to say, I think it's a darling dress, but the sizing seems to be wrong. My pattern had no seam allowances, so I used a 5T instead of 4T, but it is very narrow at the shoulders and I'm not sure it will even fit. I ran into the same problem when I made the double breasted coat from DMK also. Her patterns now have seam allowances and she will send the new ones to you, so I will have to try it again with that.

I'm going to tack down the 'waves' so they stay. I also lined my material in pink since the wrong side was not cute at all. Gives it more structure.

Covered button closure. This dress was definitely harder than the Gracie Dress I did, but this one is also lined which made it more time consuming, but is nice with lining.... I've had this material for awhile and have made some diaper/wipes totes with it. I think I got it at JoAnn's on clearance. My daughter will love all the pink. Let's just hope it fits!

MamaStellato Gracie Dress

My kids and husband have been on vacation in Michigan this past week and are returning tonight. I got a few fun projects done (not nearly as many as I wanted). I'm loving this dress for my daughter. I think it's beautiful and I just love the round collar. I'm hoping it fits, looks a tad big. It's the Gracie Dress from MamaStellato and can be found on etsy. The pattern is from 6m-5T. It's pretty easy to make and I'm loving the two fabrics together.
Here's the back. Closes with a button (made a fabric covered one). So sweet!

I'll take some pics of my daughter in it this week. If the fit is right, I plan to make at least two more dresses in fun combinations. I have to start using up my fabric stash, especially since we'll be moving this summer.....

Craft Room

So the big news around here is that we're moving. Leaving the most beautiful, wonderful place I have ever lived, Durango, and heading to Grand Junction, Colorado. I am very sad, but trying to remain happy and excited for a new adventure. My husband has gotten an amazing new job/promotion and we are thrilled for this part. He will no longer be chasing bears all spring/summer and will (hopefully) have more time with us. He will no longer be doing law enforcement so I will finally be able to put his photo on here!!!!! So we are in the process of selling our house, and I am spending a lot of time cleaning for showings and keeping toys hidden. It's exhausting!!!!! The exciting news is that Grand Junction is cheaper to live than Durango so top on my list for our new house is a CRAFT/SEWING ROOM. It's really non-negotiable. If I'm going to leave all my dear friends, then at least I'm going to finally have a room for ME! So I love seeing craft rooms on the blogs and am dreaming of mine right now.....

I currently cut all my fabric on the ground and usually on carpet and it's ridiculous. So when I saw this beautiful cutting table I fell in love. She tells you how she made it (by chopping an Ikea shelf in half) here and I love it all! And to the left are her three sewing machines. I have my eye on a serger and just maybe I'll have a spot for it soon.
I love all the beautiful fabric stacked up in the shelving. So pretty.
And is this the smartest thing EVER? I couldn't believe my eyes. To use a pant hanger for ribbon. GENIUS! I have ribbon everywhere and this is just so organized and wonderful. I am definitely doing this. For sure. You should too....

Two more Heavenly Handbags

Here are two more Heavenly Handbags I made. These went to Guatemala (with a mission team) for widows and for pastor's wives there. They will be filled with housewarming items and given to the widows when they get new homes. I'm honored to be involved in this amazing project.

I put two pockets inside each purse.

I loved this Asian fabric. So prettey! Went perfectly with the red stripes.

It was fun to work on these. I like making two of things, just is easier almost.

Custom Purses

I made two purses this week for my aunt and cousin. I emailed them fabric photos and they picked the fabric and style of the purse. This is my aunt's. I hope she loves it. I have to say, this is my favorite style bag and the one I use everyday. SO COMFY!

I put on my label that I made from a custom stamp, fabric paint, and scrap fabric. You can find out how to do it here.

Purse is lined with SOFT gray fabric that I love and I covered a button with the outside fabric.

Two pockets on one side of interior and one on other side.

Here is my cousin's bag. She's a teenager so I hope she likes it! I added tie-dye straps from when I did a purple tie dye project.

This is the boho bag style and so fun!

Two pockets on each side that are divided, so really 4 pockets for all her stuff. And again, the soft gray lining. These were fun to make and I hope they love them! Right now I'm finishing up two purses for Heavenly Handbags. Then I hope to finally make some summer dresses for my girl. And list the 6 bandanna skirt sets in my etsy shop that are ready!
